Muvizu Animation Techniques – Two Methods for Recording Multi-Part Dialogue

May 6, 2025 by Doug Last Leave a Comment

Animation Techniques – Two Methods for Recording Multi-Part Dialogue – Muvizu –In this video I will demonstrate the steps for recording each character’s part, organizing the audio files, arranging them in the video editor, making dialogue files, importing them into Muvizu and assigning them to each character. The two methods are the same up to the point of making the final dialogue audio files. You may well have other software titles that work just as well or better than the ones I use. In outline form, this part of the process is the same for both methods: 1) Start with a basic script with each character’s speaking part listed line-by-line for them, ready for them to record. 2) Using Audacity, each character records their part. 3) Save a new file for every 1 to 3 lines of dialogue for each character 4) When saving the audio files give each a prefix according to the character’s name such as “mary-what-time-is-it.wav”. 5) When all of one character’s dialogue is recorded on Audacity save the Audacity project and then save the audio files using the “export multiple” option. 6) Load the files into editing software such as Video Studio in the order they will be recorded. 7) Edit each file to remove any unwanted dead air before or after the spoken part. 8) Save the Video Studio project. Here’s where the two methods take different paths. I’ll call them the All One Big File Method and the A File for each Character Method. The ALL IN ONE BIG FILE METHOD or SUSH METHOD 1) Record one audio file that has all the dialogue 2) Import into Muvizu with “prepare audio” 3) Assign the one file to all characters with speaking parts with “prepare dialogue” 4) “Sush” all characters with assigned speaking parts 5) Run through the scene using the timeline and “unsush” each character as their speaking parts are reached and “resush” them when their part ends. The A FILE FOR EACH CHARACTER METHOD 1) In the audio editor, make certain you saved the master file 2) for each character’s part, delete all the other parts from the file but don’t move anything on the timeline so the timing is preserved 3) Record each part in its own file. Prefix each file with the character’s name. 4) After each part is recorded, go back to the full master file and use the same process for all the characters. Don’t save each part as a project or you might overwrite the master. 5) Import each part as a separate file into Muvizu and assign each to the intended character. 6) Make sure the timing has been preserved
